Issue:
Is a LAL36400MB with a short handle required instead of a LAL36400 as the main breaker in a 400a NQ or NQOD panel?

Resolution:
No, either could work. The door on the trim will close when the handle on LAL36400 is in the on or off position. If the breaker trips with the door shut the handle might slightly push on the door when the free-to-trip mech works but that shouldn`t cause any real problem.
