Resolution:
The ATS22 is designed to be mounted vertically to provide proper cooling airflow through it.  Mounting it horizontally can lead to excessive heat build up inside the unit, causing premature failures.  As stated in the installation manual, install the ATS22 vertically within +/-10degrees.  Any damage or failure caused by mounting outside of the specification will void warranty.
