SDSA 3-Phase Surge Protective Device (SPD) – Wiring and Connection Options
The SDSA 3-Phase SPD is pre-wired with #12 AWG conductors and supports multiple installation methods:
-
Tap Connection to Existing Circuit
The SPD may be connected in parallel to an existing circuit protected by a 20A or smaller breaker, provided the breaker’s terminals are UL-listed for multiple conductors of the same size and type. -
Dedicated Breaker Connection
The SPD can be connected to a dedicated 20A, 3-pole circuit breaker for isolated protection and serviceability. -
Direct Bus Connection (Type 1 Installation)
As a UL 1449 Type 1 SPD, the device is rated for line-side installation and may be connected directly to the service entrance bus without the need for an upstream overcurrent protection device (OCPD), in accordance with NEC guidelines.
