It is a new generation of medium voltage switchgear that offers a modular design and a reduced footprint as compared to Air Insulated or Gas Insulated switchgear. Each current carrying conductor is individually coated in a molded EPDM insulating epoxy. Additionally, a conductive ground layer is formed on top of the insulating layer to make a ground potential shielded layer surrounding each phase. This garners multiple benefits including, small footprint, longer switchgear life, reduced maintenance, and better environmental protection.
