Why is my GFI breaker tripping when I use my chop saw?
Issue:
My chop saw is tripping the QO-GFI breaker (GFI breakers have a yellow test button).
My chop saw is tripping the HOM-GFI breaker (GFI breakers have a yellow test button).

Product Line:
Circuit Breakers

Environment:
QO and HOM breakers with suffix GFI (yellow test button)

Resolution:
The QO and HOM GFI breakers will trip for these reason:
  1. Overload
  2. Short Circuit
  3. Ground Fault
If the breaker has tripped due to an overload, allow the breaker and the wire to cool before resetting it, and remove as many other loads from the circuit as possible. Repeated overloads should be avoided, as over time they can lead to equipment and wire damage.

If the breaker has tripped due to a short circuit or ground fault, stop using the tool and cord IMMEDIATELY. Short circuits and ground faults are hazardous for people and property. Do NOT bypass the breaker, or replace it with a non-GFI breaker. For your safety, replace the tool and cord with new equipment.
