What is the difference between NEMA 3 and NEMA 3R enclosures?
Issue:
NEMA 3 vs NEMA 3R enclosures

Product Line:
Enclosed products

Environment:
All

Cause:
Clarification of enclosure types' characteristics

Resolution:

NEMA 3 enclosures are intended for outdoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against rain, sleet, wind-blown dust, and damage from external ice formation.
NEMA 3R enclosures are intended for outdoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against rain, sleet, and damage from external ice formation.

Note: A NEMA 3R enclosure does not replace the need for a reinforced structure(such as an e-house) against high winds, heavy rain, dust, snow, or other inclement weather or ambient conditions.
