How does the the autotune function work on the ATV61 and ATV71 drives?
Issue:
How to perform autotune on the ATV61 and ATV71 drives?

Product Line:
Altivar 61, Altivar 71

Environment:
All

Resolution:
The drive uses the motor nameplate data that is programmed in menu 1.4 Motor Control to test the motor and cables and fine tune the motor control algorithm.   This will result in a better model of the motor in the drive and give tighter speed/torque control.

An autotune is not needed for most applications, and a bad autotune because of a loose connection or a warm motor can cause problems.  Proceed with an Autotune if the installation is for a high performance application requiring low speed torque or closed loop control.
Unlike many of our competitors, the motor will not turn while an autotune is being done, so there is no need to un-couple the motor from the load.
