ION meters cannot generate time synch packets for downstream devices.
ION meters are time synched via software (ION Setup/ION Enterprise/Power Monitoring Expert) or by satellite. The details depend on the meter type, model number, protocol etc. The following technote describes various ways to time synch ION meters:
