Some user had a question about some Quantum IO module, why there is no FW of them? How do they work?
There is a special ASIC in Quantum IO module including Discrete module, Analog module, and all other module, which is used for LMS backplane communication.
For Analog, expert module, there is another MCU for the module's control and CPU. But for some discrete module which channels are less than 32, there is no additional MCU in it.
There are 4 registers (8bits x 4 registers=32 bits) in this ASIC, each bit image one channel. so the input or output circuit to the one pin of the register's bit. The status of the power supply of the module's terminal can be detected by additional status register.
This mechanism can make the signal value reliable with a real time response.
