Why does the motor run backwards when a run forward command is given to a drive?

Article available in these languages: Spanish

Issue:
Altivar drive runs the motor backwards with a forward run command.

Product line:
Altivar drives

Environment:
All models

Cause:
The phase rotation is inverted coming out of the drive going to the motor.

Resolution:
Drives create the phase rotation on the output.  It may be the same or opposite from the power supply rotation.  To correct the motor rotation, swap two motor leads on the drive output terminals.
