Issue
Hardened terminal blocks are available for the 40 pin X80 'hardened' modules. Do the 20 and 28 pin 'hardened' X80 IO modules also have hardened connectors?
Product line
Modicon X80 I/O Modules
Resolution
The X80 40 Pin 'Hardened' modules include 'gold plating' and the standard connectors have 'tinned copper' connections. It is for this reason that 'Hardened' terminal blocks must be used with the 40 pin 'Hardened' modules. A difference of metals between connectors is not recommended as this causes galvanic corrosion over time. The issue does not exist with the 20 and 28 pin 'Hardened' X80 modules so standard terminal blocks and cable assemblies can be used.
