A license is not required when configuring PowerChute with
Microsoft Windows OS, e.g., Server 2016, 2019, 2022, Windows 10
Linux OS, e.g., CentOS, Debian, SuSE, Redhat, Ubuntu
VMware ESXi standalone host. See FAQ000266949 Using the unlicensed version of PowerChute Network Shutdown to protect a Standalone ESXi host.
Solution:
PowerChute v5.1.0 and above allow users to activate a trial license while running the Setup Wizard. A trial license enables all PowerChute functionalities for 30 days from the license activation date. The purpose of the trial is to test PowerChute in your virtualized or HCI environment before purchasing a license.
The trial license can only be activated once. When the trial period has expired, PowerChute becomes unlicensed. Functionalities will be restricted, and your environment will no longer be protected.
Select 30-day trail
Click activate.
NOTE: If the 30-day trial had previously been activated, you cannot reactivate the trial after the initial 30-day trial period has ended.
To enable full functionality, you must purchase a license that can be deployed before, during, or after a trial license. See FAQ000266913 How to change the PowerChute Network Shutdown license from trial to full?
