How to Resolve SSH Access Issues in PowerChute Network Shutdown After Upgrading to ESXi 7.0 Update 7.0 Update 3d to 3g & from 7.0 Update 3I till 3Q?
Issue:
After upgrading to ESXi 7.0 Update 3d, SSH access might fail with one of the following symptoms:
- If the “AcceptEnv” option is enabled in /etc/ssh/sshd_config, SSH access might fail because the SSHD process does not start, resulting in no response when connecting to the ESXi host.
Product Line:
PowerChute Network Shutdown v5.0, v5.1
Environment:
VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.3
Solution:
Do the following steps to ensure PCNS can connect to the ESXi hosts over SSH.
- Log on to the ESXi host via DCUI.
- Execute the following command:
- vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config
- Comment out or remove the option AcceptEnv.
- Save and exit using the command :wq!.
- Restart the SSH service:
- /etc/init.d/SSH restart
