How are the ATV32 and ATV320 set up for an automatic restart after a fault?
Issue:
ATV32 or ATV320 automatic restart configuration

Product line:
Altivar 32 (ATV32)
Altivar 320 (ATV320)

Environment:
All models, all serial numbers

Cause:
The drive needs to run continuously for application requirement.

Resolution:
This will NOT clear all faults.
Safety-related faults must be cleared by power-cycling the drive. Lists of faults that can and cannot be cleared with Automatic Restart can be found in your drive's Programming Manual.

Set up for an automatic restart can be done by going into:
DRI- > CONF > FULL > FLT- > ATR-
Navigate to the FLt menu and set parameter Atr to YES. Hold down Enter for 3 seconds to make the change.

Automatic restart, after locking in fault state, if the detected fault has disappeared and the other operating conditions permit the restart. The restart is performed by a series of automatic attempts separated by increasingly longer waiting periods: 1 s, 5 s, 10 s, then 1 minute for the following attempts.

If the restart has not taken place once the configurable time tAr has elapsed, the procedure is aborted and the drive remains faulted until it is powered down and then powered on again.

Only certain faults will permit an automatic restart.  If the condition that caused the fault clears, and the run command is still present, the drive will restart.  By default, the automatic restart will make multiple attempts to restart for 5 minutes before locking in fault.  Longer time periods are available per parameter tAr.

Note: This function requires the parameter tCC= 2C and tCt= LEL (in order to resume running after a fault is cleared). Auto Restart will not operate if the tCC= 3C, or if control is managed by the keypad.
So if you want your drive to automatically clear a fault AND keep running, make sure the following are true:
Atr= YES- Clears a fault after fault condition resolves
tCC= 2C - Maintained run command (whereas 3C uses a momentary run command)
tCt= LEL - Eliminates the need to transition the run command after fault is cleared
