Mapping multiple events to the same output relay with AP9613
Issue

Mapping multiple events to the same output relay on the AP9613 Dry Contact I/O SmartSlot card may not align with user expectations. (Note: This only applies to users who choose to use dip switch configuration 4 and manually map events through the AP9613 configuration utility.)

Product Line
  • UPS Management
    • AP9613 Dry Contact I/O SmartSlot Card

Environment
  • All serial numbers
  • All firmware versions
  • Dip switch configuration 4 - using the AP9613 configuration utility

Cause

The AP9613 Configuration Utility allows users to customize the mappings of inputs and outputs and their associated actions. The utility allows the user to map multiple conditions to the same output relay. Doing this may not align with user expectations of how the AP9613 output relays will operate.

Resolution

The current AP9613 design reads the config.lua configuration file and acts on each statement in sequence. If you have multiple statements acting on the same output relay, the last one takes precedence. If you're utilizing the configuration utility to make changes (recommended to avoid config.lua syntax errors from manual modification), the config.lua file is what is written by the config utility after you press the Save button within the utility.

To avoid the possibility of missing output relay behavior expectations, it is recommended to use separate output relays for different conditions.

This same functionality can also be achieved by modifying the config.lua file. This is the simplest way to get the desired functionality (which is not easily provided by using the configuration utility).
