Nutanix AHV: Default User VM Shutdown Duration is used instead of the configured duration in an Advanced UPS configuration in PowerChute Network Shutdown
Issue:
In an Advanced UPS configuration, when a critical UPS event occurs on a Physical UPS setup (one that has no AHV host associated), the default User VM (UVM) shutdown duration of 120 seconds is used instead of the user-configured duration.

Product:
PowerChute Network Shutdown v4.3

Environment:
PowerChute v4.3 configured with Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV) support and Advanced UPS configuration.

Solution:

Follow the steps below to edit the pcnsconfig.ini file to update the UVM shutdown duration for the unmapped UPS group:
  1. Open pcnsconfig.ini using an ASCII text editor, e.g. Notepad++.
  2. Navigate to the [advanced_ups_setup_X] section in the ini file – for the physical UPS setup. This is the UPS setup that has no hosts associated, i.e. hostlist key is not present under [advanced_ups_setup_X].
  3. Add a new key “uvm_shutdown_duration“ and set the value to the required duration, e.g. uvm_shutdown_duration = 300.
  4. Save and close the ini file.
