Issue:
If the communication is lost between SmartX controller devices and hosting EBO server, will the data sharing between SmartX controller devices continue to work?
Product Line:
EcoStruxure Building Operation, SmartX controller devices
Resolution:
External bindings is the recommended way to share data between SmartX IP controller devices (MP-C, MP-V, IP-IO, RP-C) or between SmartX IP controller devices and 3rd party BACnet devices. External bindings help facilitate direct peer to peer communication in such environments. For example, if SmartX IP controller1 requires a temperature value from SmartX IP controller2, it can utilize an external binding to directly exchange that temperature value without communicating through the server. In addition, in those networks where an EcoStruxure BMS server is present, you can utilize an external binding to lighten the burden of inter-SmartX IP controller traffic on that server.
If the external binding is used for data sharing, the data sharing between SmartX IP controller device will continue even if the SmartX server (Automation Server or Enterprise Server) is offline. If the standard server binding is used, data sharing will stop if the SmartX server goes offline, as data shall flow though the SmartX server.
