ION7330/7350 Meter Behaviour when the Battery is Dead or not Properly Engaged

Issue
1. If the meter is powered up with a dead battery or a disconnected/loose battery it will show a checkerboard pattern on the screen for several seconds.
2. All configurations applied to the meter such as PT/CT ratios, Integrator values and other framework changes will be lost.

Environment
Meter Behavior

Cause
When the battery is dead or disengaged and it is power cycled, the meter performs a factory initialization. A factory initialization causes the meter to lose its configuration data and custom template changes.

Resolution:
This issue cannot be fixed in the field. If you experience this issue and are unable to utilize the workaround below, please contact Schneider Electric or distributor to initiate an RMA to return the meter to the factory for battery replacement while available.

Workaround
Ensure the meter is not power cycled. This can be accomplished via a backup power supply such as a UPS.

Note: This behavior does not apply to the 7300-meter types, but the resolution is the same.

*Please note: The batteries on the 7330/7350 meter are meant to last for at least 10 years. The battery life can be checked from the front panel under Name Plate info. Option. Unfortunately, the battery life percentage indicator is meaningless if the battery is already dead, and the meter has been power cycled.*
