What does an OBF fault mean on an ATV12 drive?
Resolution:
The OBF (Over Braking Fault) occurs when the drive detects excessive braking energy, typically caused by rapid deceleration or high load inertia.
Possible causes are:
- Deceleration time is too short
- High inertia load (motor or driven machine)
- Input line voltage too high
- Voltage spikes or surges in the power supply
To mitigate the issues:
- Increase the deceleration time (DEC) to reduce braking stress
- Install a braking resistor or braking module if required
- Verify the line supply voltage is within limits- Must not exceed +20% of the rated voltage during operation
- Check for voltage fluctuations, spikes, or unstable power conditions
