What does an OBF fault mean on an ATV12 drive?

Resolution:
The OBF (Over Braking Fault) occurs when the drive detects excessive braking energy, typically caused by rapid deceleration or high load inertia.

Possible causes are:

  • Deceleration time is too short
  • High inertia load (motor or driven machine)
  • Input line voltage too high
  • Voltage spikes or surges in the power supply

To mitigate the issues:

  • Increase the deceleration time (DEC) to reduce braking stress
  • Install a braking resistor or braking module if required
  • Verify the line supply voltage is within limits- Must not exceed +20% of the rated voltage during operation
  • Check for voltage fluctuations, spikes, or unstable power conditions
