Does SquareD/Schneider Electric have Encapsulated or Ventilated Type transformers, for explosion proof or Class I Division 2 hazardous (classified) locations, as denoted by Article 500 of the NEC?
Issue:
Explosion proof transformers rating.

Product Line:
LV Transformers

Environment:
Applies to Encapsulated and Ventilated Transformers by SquareD/Schneider Electric

Cause:
Transformers may sometimes be required in Class I Division 2 hazardous (classified)  or Explosion poof locations

Resolution:
It is up to the specifying engineer, the local AHJ (authority having jurisdiction,) and installer to determine the applicability of a Transformer for a given Class I Division 2 application. SquareD/Schneider Electric can offer Transformers designed and labeled for Class I Division 2 T3 Temperature Class per Table 500-5(d) in the 1999 NEC, but it is still the responsibility of the specifying engineer, AHJ, and installer to verify the suitability of the application. Contact Product Marketing/Support via the Field Offices for additional support and/or quotes. We do not have explosion proof transformers.
