What does the designation ``AA`` or ``AA/FA`` mean in reference to Distribution Transformers?

Issue:
Nameplate designations require interpretation

Product Line:
Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Transformers

Environment:
Applies to larger Transformer types by SquareD/Scheider Electric

Cause:
Cooling shorthand symbols are used on nameplates, rather than descriptions

Resolution:

These designations refer to the means by which heat is removed from the Transformer. ``AA`` refers to Ambient Air. This is the natural convection cooling of dry Tranformers. ``AA/FA`` refers to a Transformer that under lower loading conditions uses natural convection for cooling, but under heavier loading conditions, Forced Air ``FA``, typically accomplished the addition of motor driven fans, increases the rate at which heat is removed from the Transformer.
