Can a GFI breaker be tested by creating a leakage to ground?
Issue:
Can we force a ground fault in order to ensure a GFI is working correctly?

Product Line:
Miniature Circuit Breakers

Resolution:
Yes, but this is not recommended. If the GFI is properly installed and functioning, the integral test button will trip the breaker. The test button creates a real ground fault through an 18000 ohm resistor. This is the only UL approved testing method.
