What is Form ``S``?

Issue:
Identifying forms and options on NEMA contactors and starters

Product Line:
NEMA Contactors and Starters

Environment:
NEMA Class 8536/8502 Type S

Resolution:
A ``Form`` is a factory modification to a Control product. Each modification is designated by a letter and possibly one or more numbers at the end of the Form number . The ``S`` in this case indicates that a Magnetic starter device is factory wired for a Separate Control voltage source.

For example, a 8536SCO3V02S is a starter with a 120v coil (or control ) circuit that is electrically separate from the power circuit which could be 208v, 240v, 480v, etc. Often this is done to have the control circuit voltage at a lower/safer level than the power circuit.
