What is the difference between a compensated and a non-compensated thermal overload?

Issue:
Compensated & Non Compensated overload

Product Line:
Contactors and Starters IEC

Environment:
IEC Overload relays

Resolution:
An ambient compensated bi-metallic overload relay is used where the controller is located in an area with a widely varying temperature and the motor is in an area (like a submersible pump well) that has a constant temperature. The non-compensated overload is used when the motor and overload are located in the same ambient area.
