What is a 31123-514-50 module?
Issue:
Identifying part numbers of replacement parts

Product Line:
NEMA Contactors and Starters

Environment:
Products sold and used in the United States

Cause:
Identifying part numbers

Resolution:
It is the replacement coil excitation control module for a 8502 / 8536 size 6 ( series B) and 7, series A contactor or starter. While the external control circuit is AC, the operating coil is driven by DC voltage. Actually, two different DC voltages are utilized during the normal operation the starter. A DC voltage of approximately 100-140 volts is used to ``pick-up`` the armature (close the device), then this voltage is shutdown and a ``holding`` DC voltage of approximately 8-13 volts takes over to hold the starter closed.
