What are the clearance requirements for SquareD/Schneider Electric Transformers from walls or other obstructions?

Issue:
Clearances vary with type of Transformer installed

Product Line:
LV Transformers

Environment:
Applies to Low Voltage Transformers by SquareD/Schneider Electric

Cause:
Transformers produce heat in operation, so must have clearance to obstructions

Resolution:

Older, non-EE Ventilated dry type Transformers must be installed so that a minimum of 6 inches clearance is available between a ventilation opening and any wall or other obstructions. Energy Efficient Transformer require a minimum of 3`` clearance from ventilated openings. This does not apply to bottom ventilation openings. Non-ventilated Transformers should be a minimum of 3 inches from any obstruction on all sides and top.  Newer Energy Efficient (EX Type) require .5" from rear and sides to any obstruction. Epoxy resin filled Transformers may be mounted directly on the wall, but require 12 inches on both sides, top and bottom. Unit substation style Transformers require a minimum of 12 inches around the ventilation openings, and local codes may exceed that. The clearance requirement is clearly marked on the nameplate of the Transformers.
