In addition, the QO and QOB breakers with HID suffix are also designed to be used on circuits feeding flourescent and high intensity discharge (HID) lighting. Examples of HID lighting are systems that use mercury vapor, metal halide or high-pressure sodium lighting. The HID breakers are designed to handle the high inductive loads, harmonic currents and cycling which are inherent in HID lighting systems. These types of systems are often used for ball field lighting.
