What causes an ATV61/ATV71 drive to display a PRF fault code?

Resolution:

The PRF fault is triggered when the drive’s internal diagnostics detect a loss in its ability to monitor the removal of power from the PWR control terminal.
Recommended checks:

  • Verify control power signal. Measure voltage at terminal PWR (to 0 V) and ensure that 24 Vdc is present.
  • Check logic input status. Navigate to Menu 1.2 → Logic Input Map and verify that PR status is High.
  • Inspect terminal card configuration.  Power down the drive and remove the terminal card (I/O wiring board).
Verify that Switch 1 (SW1) is in the UP position (Source mode).
  • Reset the fault. Cycle power to the drive to clear the fault condition.

Note: This fault is not related to the activation of the safety function.

Additional considerations:

The fault may indicate internal damage to the drive.
If the PRF fault occurs repeatedly, the unit may require repair, including replacement of the control board and/or power board.
In such cases, consider sending the drive for service or replacement.
