What is the difference between ACE949 and ACE949-2?

Issue:
Clarifying the differences between ACE949 and ACE949-2 communication modules for Sepam systems.

Product:
ACE949

ACE949-2

SEPAM 20

SEPAM 40

SEPAM 60

SEPAM 80

Environment:
Sepam protection relays using RS485 Modbus communication with distributed power supply.

Cause:
Users need to understand the power supply specifications and their impact on system design and communication line length.

Resolution:
The difference between ACE949 and ACE949-2 lies in the distributed power supply level transmitted over each SEPAM in parallel with the RS485 Modbus line:

    • ACE949: 12 V DC
    • ACE949-2: 12 V DC or 24 V DC
      • Using 24 V DC increases the maximum length of the distributed power supply line, providing greater flexibility for installations requiring longer distances.
