Using Copper Ports for HIPER-Ring Redundancy in TCSESM Switches

Issue
With the exception of the TCSESM083F23F0 managed switch which has eight ports that use twisted pair copper cables and no fiberoptic ports, the TCSESM managed switches use fiber optic ports 1 and 2 as the default ports for a HIPER-Ring redundant network. There may be situations where using those ports is not feasible. This resolution addresses that situation. It describes how to use ports 3 and 4 for the HIPER-Ring. It explains how to set up a ring using two switches but it can be extended to a larger number of switches.

Resolution
1. Using a web browser enter the IP address of switch 1 in the URL field. The switch Web page will displayed.
2. Login as admin and usethe default password is 'private'.
3. Go to Redundancy Ring/Network Coupler.
4. Click on the Off choice.
5. Make sure the Coupling Port is not 3 or 4..
6. Click on the Set button.
7. Go to Redundancy HIPER-Ring.
8. Set Ports to 3-4 (4-3 on secondswitch)
9. Go to Basics Port Configuration: The auto-negotiation field should be off and the manual configuration fields should be the same for ports one and two.
10. Go to Basics Load/Save
11. Click Save Configuration (Local)
12. To verify that the Save worked click Load Configuration.
13. Move the RM dip switch on switch one to ON. If you are using more than two switches this will be the only switch where Redundancy Manager is set to ON.
14. Connect the HIPER-Ring ports with CROSSOVER Cables. ( Auto-crossover is disabled by the redundancy manager) Port 3 of Switch 1 should be connected to Port 2 of Switch 4. Port 3 of switch 2 will be connected to Port 4 of Switch 1.
