Cause
ION meters do not support interfacing with marine electronics devices
Resolution
The NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association) issues standards for interfacing marine electronics devices, such as GPS receivers.
Unfortunately, ION meters do not support this protocol. The only GPS protocols available on the ION Meters (7550, 7650, 8600, 8650) are:
- GPS Arbiter
- GPS Truetime/Datum
- GPS Arbiter-Vorne
The ION86XX series also support IRIG-B, which is another protocol for time synchronization.
