There are no known issues with an ION meter's modem working with a digital modem line that is run through a multiplexor. As long as the multiplexor transmits packets completely then there should be no problem.
The digital modem is normally supposed to be made to work with analog modem, so this should not be an issue. It is important to ensure that the ION8600 meter is receiving an analog signal, as it will not work with a digital signal.
