Goals and Symptoms

The tightening torque values for AB1VV435 are different. Our catalog indicates 0.5 - 0.7Nm and for UL 8.0 lbf-in.

Facts and Changes

AB1
Terminal blocks
Torque
UL
IEC

Causes and Fixes

Both torque values are correct. The difference is due to the fact that the purpose of the torque test is not the same depending on the standard:
UL considers that the product must withstand 8lbf/in without breaking, to check the resistance of the terminals.
IEC considers that the torque of 05-07 N.m is a sufficient value to resist to application conditions.
This is why we recommend in our catalogue the IEC value.
