How to establish communications between a SEPAM ACE969 module and a G3200 gateway
Issue
How to correctly establish a communication connection between the ACE969 module and the G3200 gateway.
Product
ACE969
G3200
Environment
RS‑485 serial communication
2‑wire and 4‑wire configurations
SEPAM relays (using ACE969)
G3200 gateway configuration interface
SFT2841 software
Cause
Communication cannot be established if wiring, dip‑switch configuration, or serial port programming parameters are incorrect. The ACE969 supports only 2‑wire RS‑485, while the G3200 supports both 2‑wire and 4‑wire, requiring specific wiring and settings.
Resolution
To establish communication between the ACE969 and the G3200, wiring, dip‑switch configuration, and communication settings must be correctly configured:
1. Required Wiring (2‑Wire RS‑485)
- ACE969 Terminal A → G3200 Terminal TX‑ (2)
- ACE969 Terminal B → G3200 Terminal TX+ (1)
- Shield should be connected at only one end of the daisy chain.
2. G3200 DIP Switch Configuration (for 2‑Wire RS‑485)
Set the 6 dip switches as follows:
1 = Off
2 = On
3 = On
4 = On
5 = On
6 = On
3. Configure G3200 Serial Port
Log into the G3200 using Internet Explorer:
- IP: 169.254.0.10
- Subnet: 255.255.0.0
- Gateway: 0.0.0.0
- Username: Administrator
- Password: G3200
Navigate to:
Setup → Serial Port
Set the physical interface to RS‑485 2‑wire.
4. Match Communication Parameters
Default ACE969 settings (modifiable in SFT2841):
- Baud rate: 19200
- Parity: Even
These same parameters must be applied on the G3200.
Once wiring, DIP switches, and programming are properly aligned, communication will be established.
