How Do You Wire and Configure a Dynamic Braking Resistor on Altivar Drives?
Resolution:
A dynamic braking (DB) resistor can be used with supported Altivar drives to improve deceleration performance and reduce stopping time.
Wiring
Connect the dynamic braking resistor to terminals PA and PB on the drive.
Programming
Altivar 31 (ATV31), Altivar 312 (ATV312), and Altivar 32 (ATV32)
- Navigate to FUN menu.
- Open the rPt submenu.
- Set brA (Brake Assignment) to NO.
Altivar 61 (ATV61) and Altivar 71 (ATV71)
- Navigate to Menu 1.7 – Application Functions.
- Open the Ramp submenu.
- Set Dec Ramp Adapt to NO.
Note: The Altivar Process ATV630 series is not designed for use with dynamic braking resistors.
