Can GV2 manual motor starters be used with single phase motors?

Cause:
These units show single phase ratings, but are set up for three phase applications
Resolution:
These units need to see current across three poles to operate properly. If only one or two legs are wired for a single phase application, the unit will trip as it will think that a phase has been dropped. Thus, either a hot leg or the neutral must be looped through the otherwise unused pole so that all three poles are being used.
