Video: How do I rename devices and keep all the historical data aligned in Power Monitoring Expert
Issue:
Devices need to be renamed but historical data needs to be aligned with the new names.

Cause:
In versions prior to PME 7.2, the only way to rename a meter was to right-click it from the Devices section of the Management Console, select 'Configure device', enter the new name, and click 'OK'. Doing this creates a new database source using the new name. The historical data would then be split with all data before the name change under the original source name and all data after under the new name. The method of right-clicking a device and configuring it to change the name is no longer available in PME 7.2 and newer revisions. When selecting the 'Configure Device' option the Group and Name fields are grayed out and not modifiable.
Resolution:
As of PME 7.2, a native Rename function has been added to the Management Console which addresses the above issue.
To rename a device in PME:
Right-click on the desired device and select "Rename".
