What Can Cause an Altivar Drive to Fail During Auto Tune?

Resolution:
Several common issues can cause an Altivar drive to fail during Auto Tune:

  1. Motor Not Connected

    • Verify that the motor is properly connected to the drive.
    • Check for any open circuits or disconnected motor leads.
  2. Motor Disconnect Switch Open

    • If a motor disconnect switch or contactor is installed between the drive and the motor, ensure it is closed during the Auto Tune process.
    • The drive must be able to communicate electrically with the motor to complete Auto Tune successfully.
  3. Incorrect Motor Parameters

    • Confirm that all motor nameplate data entered in the drive matches the motor's actual specifications.
    • Verify parameters such as:
      • Rated voltage
      • Rated current
      • Rated frequency
      • Rated speed (RPM)
      • Rated power
  4. Motor Temperature Too High

    • Auto Tune should be performed with the motor at or near ambient temperature.
    • If the motor is hot from recent operation, allow it to cool before running Auto Tune again.
