Cause
The customer would like to set up a Comms loss alarm and get a notification when he loses communication with his devices.

Resolution
The document attached to this article describes how to set up an alert when a device loses communications. It will work for both Ethernet and serial-connected devices. The alert takes the form of a report subscription, so that a report of customer choice gets sent via email when a comms loss occurs.

NOTE: If customer upgrades their system to PME 8.0 or later, it has a default alarm configuration that can be configured for Comms loss.
