What Multipump Control Functions Are Available on the ATV630 and ATV650 Drives?

Resolution:

The Multipump Control function in the ATV630 and ATV650 supports applications using:

  • One variable-speed pump controlled by the drive
  • Multiple fixed-speed pumps controlled through external contactors

The drive regulates the speed of the variable-speed pump to maintain the desired process value, while fixed-speed pumps are automatically started or stopped as demand increases or decreases.

The multipump function also supports pump alternation (rotation) to help distribute operating hours evenly among the pumps. Pump alternation is achieved using relay outputs that control external contactors, allowing different pumps to be connected to the drive as needed.

This feature helps improve system efficiency, reduce wear on individual pumps, and extend overall equipment life.
