Installing Melting Alloy Thermal Units
- Disconnect all power from the controller.
- Hold the thermal unit with the ratchet (geared) wheel on the left and the part number facing you.
- Insert the thermal unit into the overload block, ensuring the pawl lever rests on top of the ratchet wheel.
- With the lever positioned correctly, install and tighten both mounting screws.
- Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for each thermal unit being installed.
- After all thermal units (or jumper straps for single-phase applications) are installed, firmly press the reset button/bar. A ratcheting sound should be heard, and the pawl lever should move to the normal (untripped) position.
Installing Auxiliary Contacts
- Disconnect all power from the controller.
- Remove the auxiliary contact from its packaging. Assemble the contact block to the mounting plate by sliding the contact onto the mounting tab and securing it with the supplied screw.
- Position the operating lever so it engages the contactor's movable contact carrier. If necessary, remove the lever and rotate it 180° for proper engagement. This allows any single-circuit auxiliary contact to be installed in any of the four available positions.
- Secure the auxiliary contact mounting bracket to the contactor baseplate using the two supplied screws.
- Before placing the starter into service, manually operate the contact carrier to verify proper auxiliary contact operation and correct engagement of the operating lever.
Note: Tighten all screws according to the torque specifications provided in the applicable instruction bulletin.
