Is the SDSA1175 suitable for use in a 120V, single-phase, 2-wire system?

Issue:
The SDSA1175 LED does not illuminate when connected to a 120V, single-phase, 2-wire system.

Product Line:
Surge Protector

Environment:
SDSA1175

Cause:
single phase application

Resolution:

The SDSA1175 is specifically designed for use on 120/240V, single-phase, 3-wire systems. When installed on a 120V, single-phase, 2-wire system, the device will not operate correctly due to insufficient line-to-line voltage. In such configurations, the status LED will not illuminate, indicating that the device is not receiving the required operating voltage.

Proper functionality of the SDSA1175 requires 240V across the two black leads. For 2-wire applications, the appropriate device to use is the SDSA1175T, which is engineered for such system configurations.

Note:
Two SDSA1175 units may be installed to provide surge protection on 208Y/120V, 3-phase, 4-wire systems, provided the system is solidly grounded. The SDSA1175 must not be used on ungrounded systems, as this may result in improper operation or failure to provide protection.
