What is the best solution, without any additional external device, to detect a short-circuit (even transient) on a Profibus cable behind a TSXPBY100

Question:
Customers are commonly using the Profibus master “TSXPBY100” in the Premium PLC range.
Customers need to detect a transient or permanent short-circuit in order to ensure the good operation of the system.
  • => What is the best solution, without any additional external device, to detect a short-circuit (even transient) on a Profibus cable?

Answer:
To detect a shortcut in the Profibus cable, a diagnostic information is available in the UNITYPRO object %IW0.3.0.243.
This FAQ informs customer that if at any time, a shortcut appears or disappears on the Profibus cable, the bit 15 of the diagnostic object %IWm.0.243 is set to 1.
This bit can be monitor regularly (every cycle) by the application of the PLC, to inform the operator that a cabling default appeared.
In this case, the operator will have to repair the Profibus cabling, and  then reset the TSXPBY100 by power cycling the PLC. (power off + power on).

Example.
The PBY100 is located in the slot n°3 of the CPU rack.
