How to install the latest ION Setup on top of existing ION Setup

Issue
Customer is using an older version of the ION Setup and has installed many devices. User would like to update to the latest version of the ION Setup without losing their current configuration.

Cause
Customer likes to use the latest features of the ION Setup without compromising his already saved work in the version he has.
Resolution
If the ION Setup version is 3.0.15x or later, the first place to check the latest version of ION Setup is Help>Check for Update…

Clicking "Yes" will open the web site to download the latest ION Setup executable.
Step 1
Starting from version 3.0.15x, the ION Setup installer splits the installation files in 2 locations of the Windows Operating System: Program Files and Program Data. Prior to this version, all the installation files existed in the Program Files folder. One way to check the location of the Program Directory and Config Directory is to go to the Tools>Options>Directories location from inside the ION Setup.

Directory location
Depending on the version of ION Setup, please go to the Program Data or Program Files folder and copy all the .DAT files from under the ION Setup folder. Also, if there is any customization done in the Tables of a meter, please save the corresponding files in the Tables folder (inside the Program Files folder),
Step 2
Uninstall the currently installed ION Setup from Control Panel>Programs and Features
Step 3
Install the latest version, please run the ION Setup installer logged in as the local Administrator. Right-click the installer and select "Run as Administrator".
Step 4
Go to the Tools>Options>Directories location as before and note down the location of the Config directory. Close ION Setup, do not select "Yes" when it asks for saving the current configuration.
Step 5
Please go to the Config directory, as noted in the previous step, and paste the previously saved .DAT files in that location.
Now open the ION Setup again. You should be able to see your previously saved work in the latest ION Setup.
