Can a BCPME042S use 84 CTs?

Issue

A BCPM6425 (42‑CT model) appears to have physical connectors for four CT strips, which has led users to ask whether it can support 84 CTs.

Cause

The BCPME 42‑CT (2 CT Strips) and 84‑CT (4 CT Strips) models look nearly identical.
Both versions share the same CT panel layout and contain connectors labeled for Panel 1 and Panel 2.

However, on the 42‑CT model, Panel 2 is not wired internally, even though the connectors physically exist on the device.
These unused connectors remain on the printed circuit board to reduce manufacturing cost but are not electrically active.

Resolution

The BCPM6425 (42‑CT model) cannot use 84 CTs.

Only the CT inputs for Panel 1 are active.
The Panel 2 connectors are not connected to the internal circuitry, preventing additional CT strips from being recognized or used.

To monitor 84 circuits, an 84‑CT model must be purchased.
