Can I configure the ATV312 drives to shut down immediately if the motor current exceeds a limit that I can define?

ISSUE:
How do I configure the ATV312 to shut down immediately if the motor current exceeds a limit?

PRODUCT LINE:
ATV312 series drive

ENVIRONMENT:
All models, All serial numbers

CAUSE:
Dedicated function not present in ATV312 series drives.

RESOLUTION:
This is possible if the Analog Output of the drive is not being used and you have an unused logic input.

Under the I-O menu, set Parameter DO to function CTA (Current Threshold Attained) : This function uses the AOV terminal as a logic output instead of analog output and defines that the output will be high whenever the motor draws more current than the given set point.

Under the SET menu, set parameter CTD to the desired amount of motor current. If your motor current exceeds this point, AOV output will go high.

Under the FLT menu, set parameter ETF to LIX where X = an unused logic input on the drive. : This assigns an External Fault function to a logic input.

Under the FLT menu, set parameter LET to High : This causes the external fault function to be triggered when LIX (from previous step) is at logic high condition.

Install a jumper wire between AOV and LIX : This ties the logic output to the external fault input.
