Video: How do I configure Plus/Minus speed control on an Altivar Process drive?

Resolution:
This guide explains how to configure Plus/Minus (Increase/Decrease) speed control using digital inputs on Altivar Process drives.

Configuration Steps:

  1. Go to [Complete Settings] → [Command and Reference]
  2. Set [Freq Switch Assign] (rFC) to [Ref Freq Channel 2] (FR2)
  3. Set [Ref Freq Channel 2] (FR2) to [Ref Frequency via DI] (UPdt)
  4. Navigate to [Complete Settings] → [Generic Functions] → [+/- Speed]
  5. Assign a digital input to [+ Speed Assign] (USP)
  6. Assign a digital input to [- Speed Assign] (dSP)
  7. Assign a digital input to [Ref Frequency Save] (Str)

How It Works:

  • The + Speed input increases frequency while active.
  • The – Speed input decreases frequency while active.
  • The ACC (Acceleration) and DEC (Deceleration) settings determine how quickly the speed changes.

Example:
If ACC = 6 seconds on a 60 Hz drive, the speed increases at 10 Hz per second (60 Hz ÷ 6 s).

  • Increase ACC → slower speed change
  • Decrease ACC → faster speed change
  • The same principle applies to DEC for decreasing speed
