Why does the monitored RPM not match the actual motor speed on the ATV212 drives?

Resolution:

This behavior is typically due to the configuration of parameter F856 – Motor Poles.

The drive calculates and displays RPM based on:

  • The programmed number of motor poles
  • The drive’s output frequency
  • The motor’s nominal RPM

Since this is a calculated value, motor slip is not included, and the drive does not actually measure true motor shaft RPM.

Check and adjust parameter F856 to match the motor’s actual pole count.

Below are the available settings:

  • 1 – 2 poles
  • 2 – 4 poles (default)
  • 3 – 6 poles
  • 4 – 8 poles
  • 5 – 10 poles
  • 6 – 12 poles
  • 7 – 14 poles
  • 8 – 16 poles

Correctly setting F856 will improve the accuracy of the displayed RPM, but remember:

The RPM shown on the ATV212 is an estimated value—NOT a real mechanical speed measurement.
