Video: How do you set up the basic parameters on an ATV320 drive?

Resolution:

Setting up basic parameters on an ATV320 drive is done through the keypad by navigating the configuration menus. The most important settings are grouped in a few key sections.

⚙️ Basic Setup Steps

1. Simple Start Menu (CONF > FULL > SIM)

Use this menu for quick setup of essential drive parameters:

  • tFr – Maximum frequency
  • ItH – Motor thermal current (motor FLA)
  • ACC – Acceleration time (ramp up)
  • dEC – Deceleration time (ramp down)
  • LSP – Minimum speed
  • HSP – Maximum speed

👉 This menu is designed for fast commissioning with minimal configuration.

2. Motor Base Settings (CONF > FULL > drC)

Configure the motor’s base frequency:

  • bFr – Base motor frequency (typically 50 or 60 Hz)

👉 These settings define the fundamental operating characteristics of the motor. [2025_ATV32...Manual.pdf | PDF]

3. Motor Nameplate Parameters (CONF > FULL > drC > ASY)

Enter the motor data from the nameplate:

  • nPr – Motor power (HP or kW)
  • UnS – Rated motor voltage
  • nCr – Rated motor current (FLA)
  • FrS – Rated motor frequency
  • nSP – Rated motor speed (RPM)

👉 Accurate motor data is essential for proper performance and protection. [2025_ATV32...Manual.pdf | PDF]

4. Drive Settings (CONF > FULL > SET)

Adjust operating limits and protection:

  • CLI – Current limit
    • Set above motor FLA (typically up to 150%)

👉 This helps protect the drive and motor from overcurrent conditions.

⚠️ Important Note

Always program the drive using the motor nameplate values. This ensures accurate control, proper protection, and optimal performance.
