How do you replace the coil on TeSys N Size 4 contactors & starters?

Product Line:
T36, T02, Tesys N contactors and starters

Environment:
NEMA, IEC

Cause:
Need to replace the coil in a Tesys N starter

Resolution:
  • Ensure power is off
  • Remove wires to the coil
  • Locate the Blue button at the edge of the metal housing on the line side of the contactor
  • Be sure there is sufficient clearance beside the contactor to allow the coil to slide out of its location. The coil assembly is the full width of the contactor.
  • Locate the slot in the blue button.
  • Depress and hold the button with a flat bladed screwdriver.
  • Slide the button toward the outside of the housing. This is attached to the magnet assembly which holds the coil in place. The coil and magnet assembly will slide out.
To replace the coil, remove and replace the existing coil, slide the carrier/magnet back into place. The button should pop into the cutout on the metal housing. This action will securely lock the coil and magnet into the proper position.
